What evidence does SS consider for memory problems like Dementia?
The Social Security Administration (SSA) requires medical evidence to prove a medical problem is disabling. Memory problems like dementia or forgetfulness can be measured in a mental status examination. A full battery mental exam includes objective measures of a person's mental functioning including tests about their memory. If you or someone you know has memory problems you should try and secure a full battery mental exam to document the extent of the problem for the SSA.
